Nafisah, 2014

Medusa – pardon me – I mean, Nafisah was my sign language interpreter during those glitzy showbiz days when I did the rounds at NUS and MediaCorp. She was heavy with child then. Which did nothing to stop her from also clambering aboard a sailing ship and the deck and below decks and wherever, giving her clients, Aunt Genius and I, many little heart palpitations. Besides being an excellent and dedicated and gungho terp, she is also an excellent diplomat. The natural and proper reaction to seeing a client being powdered up for TV is to laugh. I would have. She didn’t.

[This is a new series about friendship – through rose-tinted mists and micro tales of derring-do of exactly 100 words.]
